Your wedding dress

A few things to remember when planning your wedding:
The dress will be the center of attention for the whole wedding. The perfect dress should make the bride feel and look beautiful. A well-fitted dress is flattering to the figure. But most importantly it should be comfortable to wear all day long. The photographs are going to be the lasting feature of you big day so you want them to be as fabu...lous as possible. Take recommendations from friends and people who have recently got married. You can always cut costs on the big day without compromising on style and atmosphere. You can organize it yourself, with friends and family to help with things like the video camera and driving guests from the ceremony to the after party.

Cherokee Wedding Vows

God in heaven above
please protect the ones we love.
We honour all you created
as we pledge our hearts and lives together.
We honour mother-earth
- and ask for our marriage to be abundant
and grow stronger through the seasons;
We honour fire
- and ask that our union be warm
and glowing with love in our hearts;
We honour wind
- and ask we sail though life
safe and calm as in our father's arms;
We honour water
- to clean and soothe our relationship
- that it may never thirsts for love;
With all the forces of the universe you created,
we pray for harmony and true happiness
as we forever grow young together

Planning the wedding

Getting engaged can be one of the most memorable and exciting moments in your life. For the first few weeks after the proposal, you both feel dizzy with happiness and are bursting with anticipation. As well you both should be! You've met the man or woman of your dreams, you've decided to get married, and now it's time to plan the wedding -- the official celebration of your love and commitment.

...As you plan this wonderful day, you both will continue to feel great joy, but may also experience a few butterflies and a little confusion. After all, organizing a ceremony and reception is a big undertaking.

There will be questions about anything and everything: from the meal (fish, chicken, or beef?) to the wedding gown (low-cut, fitted, or empire-waisted?) to the reception music (live band, small orchestra, or DJ?). There will be issues about budgets, guest lists, and styles.

But in the end, just remember what this day is really about -- a celebration of love. Stay focused, and keep organized.

Quote of the Day

"
We've got this gift of love,
but love is like a precious plant.
You can't just accept it and leave it in the cupboard
or just think it's going to get on by itself.
You've got to keep watering it.
You've got to really look after it and nurture it."
-John Lennon

Quote of the Day

“This is what we call love. When you are loved, you can do anything in creation. When you are loved, there's no need at all to understand what's happening, because everything happens within you.”

Includidng the Grandparents..

Some of you might like to include your grandparents as part of your wedding day and this can be easily achieved. If you simply want to acknowledge your grandparents as honoured guests, you can have corsages and boutonnieres made for them to wear. You might also arrange for the ushers or groomsmen to escort the grandmothers, with the grandfathers following, down the aisle to the front of the seating area.
Also Writing a dedication in your program is an opportunity to let them and your other guests know just how much their presence is valued. ♥♥

Some words of advice

Once you enter into a marriage you are no longer one person.  You become a unit.  This involves working together and looking out for the best interests of each other.Remember that the key is to have balance if you want your marriage to work. Without balance one mate will feel taken advantage of. The wife should take into consideration the feelings and authority of her husband and the husband should take into consideration the feelings and opinions of his wife. In this way both party’s needs are met.
This will not be easy to do. Sometimes you may want so badly to have more independence, like when you were single. However, that is the cost of marriage.

Quote of the Day

“People do not marry people, not real ones anyway; they marry what they think the person is; they marry illusions and images. The exciting adventure of marriage is finding out who the partner really is. “

Father of the bride..

You might think that the father of the bride should be exempt from wedding planning duties but you couldn’t be more wrong. As an older wiser man you may be called on to deal with everything from pre-wedding nerves to supplier negotiations. Offer to help out when things get stressful for your daughter. You may be able to deal with wedding problems with less emotion than she can.

Quote of the Day

“When love beckons to you follow him, Though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you. And when he speaks to you believe in him, Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden. For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth......"― Kahlil Gibran, Le Prophète

Quote of the Day

There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer, no disease that enough love will not heal, no door that enough love will not bridge, no wall that enough love will not throw down, no sin that enough love will not redeem... It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble, how hopeless the outlook, how muddled the tangle, how great the mistake. A sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all. If only you could love enough, you could be the happiest and most powerful being in the world...

Advice for the grandparents..

Did you know that traditional wedding etiquette dictates that all grandparents be ushered down the aisle at the beginning of the wedding ceremony. If requested by the bride and groom, the grandmother should wear a corsage. In some cases, the grandmother might also be asked to join the receiving line following the wedding ceremony. In this case, she should welcome and thank guests for attending the wedding.

Quote of the Day

“I didn’t marry you because you were perfect. I didn’t even marry you because I loved you. I married you because you gave me a promise. That promise made up for your faults. And the promise I gave you made up for mine. Two imperfect people got married and it was the promise that made the marriage. And when our children were growing up, it wasn’t a house that protected them; and it wasn’t our love that protected them – it was that promise.”

— Thornton Wilder

Grandmother's duties,..

 As one of the oldest female relatives, a grandmother plays an important and special role on her grandchild's wedding day, whether she is the grandmother of the bride or groom. To ensure respect for the couple on their special day, a grandmother is expected to follow certain wedding traditions. Wedding etiquette for a grandmother is simple and straightforward.

 Preparation
    • Proper wedding etiquette dictates that the grandmother should inform the bride and groom of any special dietary or mobility needs as early as possible to ensure that arrangements can be made easily, according to 1MotherOfTheBride.com. For example, the couple could reserve a special seat if she has difficulty walking, or request a special meal at the wedding reception.

    Dress

    • The grandmother should select her dress based on the overall formality of the wedding. According to wedding etiquette, she should not wear a dress in a colour or style that too closely matches the bride's wedding gown or the bridesmaid's dresses. For a semi-formal wedding, the grandmother might wear a pantsuit or casual dress. For a formal wedding, she should wear an elegant dress or skirt suit.

    Offerings

    • The grandmother should offer advice and suggestions when the bride requests it. Additionally, the grandmother should offer one of her personal items to the bride to be used as the "something borrowed" or "something old" item. Ideas include pearl earrings, a silk handkerchief or a hairpin.

    Special Requests

    • Traditional wedding etiquette dictates that all grandparents be ushered down the aisle at the beginning of the wedding ceremony. If requested by the bride and groom, the grandmother should wear a corsage. In some cases, the grandmother might also be asked to join the receiving line following the wedding ceremony. In this case, she should welcome and thank guests for attending the wedding.

    Gift

    • The grandmother should give a gift to the bride and groom on their wedding day, but there are no rules regarding the type of gift from grandparents. In fact, some simply choose to give a check or cash to help bride and groom start their new life together.
